Darren Beadman believes Allergic's quest for a second black-type win can reach fruition at Randwick in the Listed McKell Cup.

The five-year-old has raced six times this preparation and results have steadily improved, with a close second to Top Of My List in the Listed Lord Mayor's Cup at Rosehill on May 6 encouraging Godolphin's interim head trainer.

Allergic, who recorded back-to-back third placings in the Group Three Sky High Stakes and Manion Cup before the Lord Mayor's Cup, made his black-type breakthrough in the Group Three Colin Stephen (2400m) at Rosehill in September.

"Allergic has been knocking on the door. It's just looking like he's starting to find his best form," Beadman said.

"He worked very well at Osborne Park on Wednesday morning. He's a very fit horse and the distance is no problem."

Josh Parr will ride Allergic with Beadman not concerned with the gelding's top weight of 59kg, 4.5kg more than the next highest weight to be carried by Beyond Thankful.

"Even though he's got a bit of weight, he's not badly treated under the conditions," Beadman said.

Godolphin also has Big Blue in Saturday's 2400m-feature.

"He's got a nice weight (53.5kg) and he's been looking for this trip. I'm very happy with him," Beadman said.

A field of 12 was confirmed on Wednesday with Sydney's premier trainer Chris Waller well represented with three runners - Beyond Thankful, Soviet Courage and Richard Of Yorke.

Like Beadman, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott partnership also have two chances - last-start winners Broadside and Multitude.

Former New Zealander Broadside won over 2000m at Rosehill on Saturday while Multitude has won a barrier trial since his 2200m-win at Warwick Farm on May 3.

Top Of My List will miss the chance to add the McKell Cup to her wins in the JRA Plate and Lord Mayor's Cup with co-trainer Anthony Cummings unhappy with how she came through her work on Wednesday morning.
