Beau Mertens is expected to spend two weeks on the sidelines after suffering concussion and bruising around a knee following a nasty fall at Caulfield on Sunday.

Mertens and Orient Line came crashing to the turf just before the 200m mark in the Matthew Davies Handicap (1600m).

The young jockey was treated for his injuries in the on-track first aid room.

Unfortunately the John Moloney-trained Orient Line suffered a catastrophic injury and had to be humanely euthanised.
