A pair of Queensland men have been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly castrating two thoroughbred colts without pain relief.

The men, a 69-year-old licensed thoroughbred trainer from Rockhampton and a 72-year-old licensed thoroughbred stablehand from Kenilworth, were both charged by the Queensland Racing Crime Squad.

The pair will face Rockhampton Magistrates Court on November 14, while a 61-year-old licensed thoroughbred trainer from Cairns has also been charged with animal cruelty following an unrelated incident in which an injured horse was allegedly overdriven, overrode or overworked in between October 5 and 20.
