Kerrin McEvoy has continued his love affair with the Zipping Classic meeting guiding Yulong Xingsheng to victory at Sandown.

McEvoy has been a perennial winner at the meeting and an early double on Saturday provided him his 17th winner dating back to 2007.

After winning the Merson Cooper Stakes on Long Leaf, McEvoy followed up aboard Yulong Xingsheng in the Group Three Twilight Glow Stakes.

Sent out a $6 equal favourite, Yulong Xingsheng scored a three-quarter length victory over So Far Sokool ($13) with another of the equal favourites, Lady Of Crebilly, a further 1-1/4 lengths away.

Sydney-based McEvoy says he enjoys riding at Sandown but unfortunately doesn't get the opportunities during the year.

"I've had a bit of luck at this meeting over the years," McEvoy said.

"I don't get to ride here during the year but it's always been an enjoyable track for me to ride at.

"It's a nice big track which allows you to be patient.

"While positioning is still important you have a long run home which can offset any wide barriers."

McEvoy rode the Kris Lees-trained filly into a place at Randwick last month before finishing an unlucky fourth on the daughter of I Am Invincible at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.

He also noted the track, rated in the soft range, was beneficial.

"She's always shown a lot and it looked a nice race for her," McEvoy said.

"Kris was happy with the way she had trained on since her last run and being able to get her toe in certainly helped her as well."
