Sopressa has signed off from her racing career in the best possible way with an emphatic win at Caulfield.

A Group One winner of the Australasian Oaks in Adelaide, Sopressa landed her fourth career victory in Saturday's Danny Barrett VOBIS Gold Stayers.

Part-owner Danny Molloy said the daughter of So You Think would be served by Zoustar in the coming breeding season.

"We're going to breed from her and hopefully race the progeny," Molloy said.

Ridden by Mark Zahra, Sopressa, the $2.30 favourite, raced to a 2-3/4 length win from Sasko ($3.70) with Fanciful Toff ($2.80), a stablemate of the winner, a nose away third.

Sopressa was trained by Darren Weir before his four-year disqualification in February and taken over by the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable.

Much travelled, Sopressa raced in Queensland during the winter finishing second in the Caloundra Cup before making her way south to again fill the runner-up position in the Grafton Cup on July 11.

Maher said Sopressa had had a great preparation for the stable and was deserving of Saturday's success.

"She ran a decent race in the Warrnambool Cup (in May) and hasn't looked back since," Maher said.

"It took a little while for her to reach her top as she takes a bit of maintenance.

"The muscle guys and the manipulators have done a really good job with her.

"She's a big, raw mare that gets a few little niggles and this is a great way to finish off."
