"FILLIES have a very good record in the San Domenico with six being successful in the last 11 years — Regimental Gal (2003), Media (2005), Gold Edition (2006), Sliding Cube (2007), Obsequious (2010) and Snitzerland (2012).

There are two fillies lining up in Saturday’s Group 3 sprint with Ygritte at $5 and Sheer Style rated a $12 chance."

"Peter Moody isn’t letting Lidari’s win in this year’s Blamey Stakes affect his Spring Racing Carnival ambitions with the import, who resumes in Saturday’s $200,000 Group 2 Black To Caulfield P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

Earlier this year Lidari won the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington, a race that has had a significant impact on the Spring Racing Carnival the previous two years.

Last year Puissance de Lune shared it with Budriguez, to confirm his standing as the banner horse leading into the carnival, and 12 months’ earlier Green Moon snared the Blamey eight months before being crowned Emirates Melbourne Cup champion.

Lidari is following in the footsteps of Puissance de Lune, who resumed with Lawrence Stakes success, and while Moody is aware the race has been a good guide he said Lidari still needed to prove himself at the top level."

"One of 12 three-year-old fillies facing off in this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Lister Quezette Stakes (1100m), Royal Snitzel comes into the race undefeated.

She pays $2.90 as the dominant favourite the daughter of Snitzel shooting for her third win on the trot.

Drawn in barrier six with Dale Smith to ride the Golden Rose and Thousand Guineas nominated filly was last seen winning over the same track and distance on July 5.

Smith was aboard that day, Royal Snitzel defeating Zeletto by a half length, and also rode her to a nice two and a half length victory on debut at Donald in June."

"Two of the three youngsters local trainer Mick Price has accepted to face off in Saturday’s Vain Stakes 2014 are dominating the current markets on the Caulfield showdown.

A lead-up to some of the major Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival features for three-year-olds, this weekend’s $150,000 Group 3 KS Environmental Vain Stakes (1100m) has drawn a field of 12 hopeful colts and geldings.

Three of those come from the Price stables and are eyeing a run in the $1 million Group 1 BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) back at the track on October 11.

Of the three two are Group 1 performed but it is the lightly-raced Nordic Empire that is best fancied of the trio and the entire Vain Stakes field.

The Wilander colt has had just the three starts to date but has already enjoyed two victories, most recently over 1000m when resuming at Moonee Valley on August 2."

"After an injury enforced layoff that saw the Darren Weir-trained Puissance De Lune miss the autumn, the horse returns to racing on Saturday shooting for back-to-to back wins in the $200,000 Group 2 Back to Caulfield P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m).

Shamardal grey Puissance De Lune won the PB Lawrence Stakes 12 months ago kicking off their Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival campaign, lots of hype surrounding the one time Melbourne Cup favourite’s return."
