With the Cheltenham 2015 jumps festival just a few days away thought I'd try something different this year for a bit of fun. A couple of weeks ago I went in search of some key trends for Cheltenham. Below I have listed some of those key trends for all 27 races to be run over the 4 days. From these key trends am going to select my top 2 based on them and post them underneath each race for each day. Should be very interesting to see what we come up with. Hopefully we're lucky enough to select a couple of winners based upon them. I will also post my own selection for each race out of interest. My own selection for each race may not necessarily come from these key trends. Feel free to have a go on a couple where you feel the key trend is strongest. See how you go and good luck if you're going to have a bet at the festival. Personally, I love these big UK festivals.

Race Seven – CHAPS Restaurant Barbados Novices Handicap Chase (2m4f 110yds)
Being a novice chase the race is full of inexperienced types and the majority of previous winners hadn’t won more than once over fences and were allotted less than eleven stone in weight, this suggests you need to be looking for the progressive chaser that the handicapper hasn’t had time to get to grips with yet. Trainers Paul Nicholls and Ferdy Murphy often aim one at this race and are worth a second look especially those that may have been let in with a low rating as top weights don’t fare well in this contest. Only one 5 year old has won this race and that was a French import who start jumping fences earlier in their careers, chasers with a little more maturity are often the ones to concentrate on and five of the seven races have been won by a seven year old.
