(Good 3) Caulfield 20.09.2014

Race 1: Not the best of races to start off with, but happy to go with Zeletto who was an impressive winner last start at Sandown. He’s drawn okay and should start the day off on a winning note. 1 Bullpit is a smart type and has always run in good company. I think he’s the quinnella horse. 2 Petrology ran just fairly behind Rich Enuff at Moonee Valley, but has franked the form with a win at Flemington last start. 8 Good Offa next best for me. Suggested Bet: 1,2,3 Boxed quinella.
Race 2: Strictly no bet for me. Not enough exposed form to work off.

Race 3: Really nice sprint race! Ended up settling up with 7 Rifleman who’s been running very well, and gets he’s chance to get another win this prep. He drops a handy 1.5kg and has drawn well in barrier 3. 6 Anatina is a classy mare resuming, she’ll be right up on the speed and should run a good race. She’s got really good form lines behind her. 2 Kencella did it the hard way up on the speed in a high tempo race, and will strip fitter for this. 4 African Pulse next best. Suggested Bet: 7 Rifleman E/W

Race 4: Really open race! I thought the possible speed map was 11 I’m A Flying Star 7 Fortiche maybe 1 Veuvelcious might kick up on the speed from barrier 7. I’ve ended up going with the favourite 9 Pickin’ Time. He’s run behind Tawteen was pretty good I thought and stepping out to the 1400m will suit. 4 Golconda will really improve here second. He’s got barrier 1, he won’t get caught deep or get into any speed battles. He’s a bit over the odds at $21/$6 8 Not A Happy Camper hit the line pretty well behind Tawteen, he’ll get better over further. 3 Fontien Ruby should be competitive here. Suggested Bet: 9 Pickin’ Time E/W

Race 5: Thought it would be pretty hard to tip against 5 Suavito in a fairly open race. She was huge last start and would have won by 2 lengths if she wasn’t held up in a crucial stage. 13 Dig A Pony will run a nice race here, she’s a classy mare and will run home hard. 8 Sprit Of Heaven is racing well, but drops back to 1400m of a freshen up. 3 Minnie Downs to run a nice race 1st up. Suggested Bet: 5 Suavitio the win.

Race 6: Speed looks to come from out wide with 3 Entirely Platinum and 5 Bonfire. The maybe 10 Let’s Make Adeal and 6 Foundry. I’ve ended up settleing with 10 Lets Make Adeal on top. She’ll really improve 3rd up over 2000m. Her run in the autumn behind Fironete is good for this race. She only carries 54kg’s. She looks a good E/W bet. 1 Spillway backs up from the Makybe Diva Stakes last week, where he flashed home to run 4th. He’ll improve 3rd up over a more suitable distance. 4 Our Voodoo Prince improved over 1600m running well behind St Jean at Moonee Valley. He’ll be running home strongly stepping up to 2000m. 5 Bonfire should be really competitive in this type of race. Suggested Bet: 10 Lets Make ADeal E/W

Race 7: Speed comes from 7 Star Rolling, 5 Crackerjack King, maybe next line 1 Happy Trails and 6 Ladari. Ended up settling with 2 Foreteller he’s run behind The Cleaner at Moonee Valley wash huge! 3rd up 1800m really suits this horse, and loves Caulfield. 10 Silent Achiever is a good mare on a Melbourne Cup campaign. I think she’s a bit short at $3.00 and doesn’t seem excel has much at Caulfield. But I won’t be righting her off. 1 Happy Trails is a good, but much underrated horse. He’ll sit just off the speed and run a really good race. 6 Ladari was not far behind Foreteller at Monnee Valley and should run a good race here. Suggested bet: Foreteller the win & box 1,2,10 in a quinella.

Race 8: Really nice sprint! Thought the speed comes from 13 Girl Guide 12 Forever Loved and 4 A Time For Julia. I really like the way 7 Shamal Wind maps for this race. Her run behind Iconic was a real eye catcher. She didn’t have the best of luck in that race. She’s perfectly weighted and will be running home hard. 1 Samaready is a super classy mare who always runs well 1st up. She runs well at Caulfield and should get a nice run from barrier 5. 4 A Time For Julia was impressive 1st up only getting nabbed late by Gregers. She’s another mare who always runs well at Caulfield. So don’t dismiss her. 13 Girl Guide is facing her toughest test yet, but is showing a lot of promise as a up and coming sprinter. Suggested Bet: 7 Shamal Wind the win.

Race 9: Hard to be tipping against the war horse 5 Trust In A Gust here. He’s two runs this prep have been fantastic and today he finally draws a barrier and he shouldn’t be caught 3 and 4 wide. He’s got 55.5kgs and he should be the good thing in the last. 3 Lucky Hussler was a impressive 1st up for Weir behind Trust In A Gust. He’ll improve 2nd up and run home hard. 6 Commanding Time is a Caulfield specialist and I reckon he’ll run a nice race here, but barrier draw is a slight concern. 16 Cauthen gets a run, and he’s a smart type. Don’t dismiss him. Suggested Bet: 5 Trust In A Gust the win.
Good luck all, Mitch.
