Experienced jockey Peter Knuckey plans on relocating to Mauritius where he has agreed to a three month contract with one of the island nationâ€s top stables.

“I’m in the process of filling out all the paper work and requirements,” Knuckey told The Races WA.

“I’ve had a couple of offers before and you usually don’t get asked a third time.

“I’ve spoken to a few people and the stable I’m going to is in the top 5 in Mauritius.

“I also want to enjoy the experience, so if at any time I’m unhappy I’ll be coming home.

“I’ve ridden with group success in Singapore and Melbourne and it seems a good time to go.

“I don’t want to look back and have any regrets when I stop riding.

“Their season starts on April 9 and hopefully I can be there for that.

“I would like to wait around for the Karrakatta Plate and then go after if I can.”

Knuckey rode nine winners in Singapore including The Hornet in the Group 3 Stayers’ Stakes (1600m) in 2009.

His career tally stands at more than 1800 winners since commencing his apprenticeship under Colin Webster in 1990.

Knuckey won the Perth Cup as an apprentice on Field Officer, replicating his father, Peter Sr., who won the race twice.

Knuckey also booted home top Perth sprinter Island Morn in the Group 2 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield (1995).
