Race 1: Midway Handicap (1600m) – 12:20pm

Tip: No. 12 Pink Ivory

Pink Ivory is by Redwood and is out of Group 1 winning race mare Lotteria who also ran second in the Cox Plate!

This three year old filly broke through for her maiden win at her second race start two back at Gosford and was beaten less than a length last time out.

She represents good value in the opening race of the day.

Race 2: Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) – 12:55pm

Tip: No. 7 Greece

We are yet to see the Maher and Eustace trained Greece at the races but she has been scintillating at the trials.

Both her trials wins have looked like a sign of a good horse and she should be plenty fit enough to be competitive on debut in the Reisling Stakes.

The daughter of I Am Invincible has drawn the outside which should not concern James McDonald in the small field.

Race 3: Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) – 1:30pm

Tip: No. 1 Sejardan

Sejardan has the runs on the board and on exposed form, he is the horse to beat in the Todman Stakes.

He started his racing career with wins in the Breeders’ Plate and Golden Gift and his first up effort in the Inglis Millennium was full of merit.

A lot of these young ones have plenty of improvement so this is not a race I am eager to bet into.

Race 4: Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m) – 2:05pm

Tip: No. 7 Zeyrek

Zeyrek returned a nice fourth first up at Rosehill and will take plenty of improvement out of that run.

The step up in distance will be of advantage and although he is unplaced from five runs at Randwick, he can be competitive at the each way price.

Race 5: Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) – 2:40pm

Tip: No. 8 Remarque

Nature Strip is the best sprinter in the world and should he get even luck, he probably wins the Challenge Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

I’m not going to tip you into a $1.60 favourite though.

The three year old Remarque is a smart colt who is best suited to the short course.

His two trial wins leading into this first up assignment were impressive and a small place bet is the betting play here.

Race 6: Listed Fireball Stakes (1100m) – 3:20pm

Tip: No. 9 Zarastro

I’ve been really keen to see this colt get back to the races after two impressive wins during his last campaign.

The son of I Am Invincible has won both his trials leading into this first up assignment and looked outstanding in both.

Chris Waller partners with James McDonald from barrier eight.

This is a big step up in grade but he looks a great bet at double figure odds.

Race 7: Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) – 4:00pm

Tip: No. 1 Zaaki

The only blemish on Zaaki’s record in his last two preps has been a third in the Group 1 Might And Power during his spring campaign.

He bounced back to take out the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes four weeks later in dominant fashion to prove he truly is one of the best horses in the country.

Forbidden Love is racing extremely well and brings in a fitness edge but the market has this wrong.

Zaaki should be closer the $2.50 and he is the bet of the day anywhere in the country in the Canterbury Stakes.

Race 8: Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) – 4:40pm

Tip: No. 3 Hilal

There is not as much between Hilal and Anamoe as the market is suggesting.

Anamoe has proven he is the best colt in the country but he only narrowly defeated Hilal last start over 1400m at Rosehill.

Both horses will be better for that run but the step up in distance suits Hilal more in my opinion and he represents great each way value at his current price in the Randwick Guineas.

The son of Fastnet Rock has drawn perfectly in barrier four and is ready to peak at his third run in.

Race 9: Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) – 5:20pm

Tip: No. 1 Polly Grey

Polly Grey has an excellent record on the heavy surface which she is almost certain to get on Saturday.

The grey mare usually takes a couple of runs to get going in her prep but she has a class advantage over most of this field which will take her a long way.

Race 10: Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality (1200m) – 5:55pm

Tip: Box trifecta 1/3/4/6/11

Let’s box these up in the last and finish on a big winning note!
