Chris Bieg ready to Annihilate Murray Bridge

Chris Bieg has high hopes for a strong showing from his team at Murray Bridge on Saturday, particularly from Annihilate, who he says is primed for a big performance in the Mulch N More Handicap (1400m).

Fresh off victory in the Autumn Series Final (1600m) at Morphettville, Annihilate drops back in distance but remains in winning form.

“This race is ideal for him,” Bieg said. “He’s thriving, we’ve spaced his runs, he’s been at the beach, and he’s happy. It’s worked perfectly so far.”

Stablemate Voltage Point lines up in the same race, backing up after a third-place effort at Morphettville last Saturday. Bieg hopes the quick turnaround helps the horse settle better in the run.

“Voltage Point has been a bit keen, so the backup might just take the edge off,” he said. “If it doesn’t work, we’ll drop him back to 1200 metres in a fortnight.”

With Sachem favourite at $6, Annihilate and Voltage Point are rated $6.50 and $8 respectively, giving Bieg a strong hand in the final race of the program.

Tripod Terror also features on the card in the Prime Irrigation Handicap (1200m). A $6 chance, the gelding has not missed a placing in his past five starts and was runner-up at Morphettville on May 10.

“He had a foot issue earlier in the prep, but he’s bounced back well,” Bieg said. “We’ve changed his gear and he’s going as well as ever.”

Overstrike rounds out Bieg’s team for the day, and the trainer is hoping Justin Potter can help the horse settle better during the run.
