Chris Parnham backing Buzzoom in the WA Guineas

In-form jockey Chris Parnham is bullish Buzzoom can bounce back from the disappointment of being beaten as a short-price favourite in last week’s Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m), when she lines up in the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m).

Buzzoom loomed to go past Searchin’ Rocs in last week’s Group 3 feature for the fillies but peaked on her run and was beaten by a length.

Trainer Dan Morton made the decision to back-up the filly into tomorrow’s $500,000 event and Chris Parnham said he expected that decision to be vindicated.

“On first thought, you’d probably say you’d expect her to run through the line a little bit better last week,” Parnham told TABradio.

“I’ve got my own theory on that.

“I’ll probably be riding her a little bit differently tomorrow.

I’m actually really confident with her.

“Her Burgess Queen run was very strong.

“If she brings that run tomorrow, I can see her being very competitive.”

Parnham conceded he would likely have to settle towards the rear of the field with the Safeguard filly from barrier 11.

Buzzoom is a $4.80 third elect with TABtouch for the Group 2 event, behind Treasured Star ($2.30) and It’sarayday ($4).

Parnham teams up with Morton in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) with exciting mare Kissonallforcheeks.

The Written Tycoon filly forced her way into the $1 million race by winning last week’s Group 3 R.J. Peters Stakes (1500m).

Parnham said Western Empire would be hard to beat, but was confident Kissonallforcheeks would acquit herself well from barrier one.

“Hopefully she can bounce out well, travel smoothly and not be too far away,” he said.

“She’s good enough to win this edition.

“She will run a very good race.”

Tomorrow’s opening day of the TABtouch Masters gets underway at 12.04.
