From his Cranbourne base, trainer Mick Price confesses to feeling extra pressure as he eyes Hot Digity Boom’s run in Adelaide more than his Group 1 team in Sydney and Melbourne.
Hot Digity Boom is partly owned by Price’s partner Shona and daughters Kelly and Stephanie, lining up in Saturday’s Charlie Hoile Handicap (1400m) at Morphettville Parks.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr team has a packed card: Guest House in the Golden Slipper, Reserve Bank taking on The Galaxy in Sydney, and Charm Stone in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Caulfield.
Adelaide hosts three from the stable, including Hot Digity Boom, debutant The Speed Machine in the Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1000m), and Bring Forth in the Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap (2294m).
Hot Digity Boom ended last start fifth to Astral Flame in a Flemington Benchmark 84 for fillies and mares on February 28, set to thrive back at 1400m post her Cranbourne victory there.
“Hot Digity Boom, we’ll be doing our best for the girls, and family harmony,” Price said.
“She’s consistent but doesn’t win too often, so hopefully she can win again on Saturday.”
Price co-owns Bring Forth, who eyes improvement third-up at a more suitable distance.
His latest was a second-placing over 1800m at Sandown.
“Bring Forth is now third-up and is looking for the trip,” Price said.
“His two runs back have been good, and it was a good solid effort last time.
The rail is out nine metres, and it is on the Parks track, but I reckon we’ll ride Bring Forth with a bit of a smother.”
The stable’s Adelaide venture opens with The Speed Machine, a two-year-old by Hanseatic, the Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up.
“The Speed Machine has had two trials for two wins.
He’s a sharp little horse and I think he will be competitive in the first.”
