Wild Ruler will not be progressing to any of the remaining Group 1 races this autumn after it was revealed on Wednesday morning that the son of Snitzel has been retired to stud.
Racing New South Wales broke the news when it tweeted that the entire’s co-trainers, Peter and Paul Snowden, advised that the four-year-old would not be continuing on with his preparation.
He will stand the upcoming season at Newgate Farm, who raced the son of Snitzel with China Horse Club and partners throughout his 15-start career.
His crowning glory came in last year’s Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley, while he also logged two Group 2 wins; the 2020 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) and 2021 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m).
Wild Ruler’s final start came in last Saturday’s Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield in which he finished ninth in the race won by Marabi.
A $525,000 buy from the Kia Ora Stud draft at the 2019 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Wild Ruler is from the Daaher mare Gypsy Robin who was a dual Group 2 winner in America.
He will join Russian Revolution and Menari as sons of Snitzel on the Newgate Farm roster with his first-season service fee to be announced in coming months.
