Jamie Kah to return at Mornington

After missing a potentially lucrative Spring Racing Carnival through suspension, Jamie Kah is set to make her return to race riding.

Kah was one of five jockeys suspended for attending an Airbnb party in August which resulted in her being outed for three months.

She was then given a further two-month suspension for allegedly giving false or misleading evidence to Racing Victoria stewards during their investigation which Kah later had overturned on appeal to the Supreme Court.

Kah could have come back to race riding last week but suffered a broken nose in a trackwork accident delaying her return.

Last season’s champion rider makes her return aboard the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace -trained Inner Spirit at Mornington on Friday where she will also ride Dawn County for her partner Clayton Douglas.

She will then travel to The Valley on Friday night for a further two rides – the Simon Zahra-trained Dirty Deeds and then China Affair, again for Douglas.

On Saturday, Kah has bookings in six of the nine races at the Pakenham Cup meeting, including Smokin’ Romans in the day’s feature, a Listed race over 2500m.

Kah has ridden Smokin’ Romans once previously to victory in a 2500m race at The Valley in July.

Apprentice Celine Gaudrey will be next of the Airbnb five to return to race riding from December 10, Ethan Brown from December 17 and Mark Zahra at the end of the month.

Ben Melham was the harshest hit, receiving an extra three months over his evidence at the stewards’ inquiry and can return in March.
