Jolly fillies to clash in the G3 David Coles Am Stakes

Richard Jolly would have to walk away somewhat disappointed if one of his two fillies couldn’t get the job done in Saturday’s Group 3 David Coles Am Stakes (1200m).

Last start Group 3 Breeders Stakes (1200m) winner See You In Heaven is the odds on favourite ($1.80 TAB) ahead of stablemate Aitch Two Oh ($7 TAB), who is coming off a win in the Listed Without Fear Stakes (1050m) and no other runner is in single figures.

“It’s a good thing to have two good fillies in it, you don’t like them clashing but at the end of the day it’s a black type race, I’d certainly be very happy if they ran the quinella,” Jolly said.

Stable rider Jake Toeroek has elected to stick with See You In Heaven and Jolly has been impressed with her preparation.

“She’s been going good, I’m happy with her, she looks great. I’ve just been ticking her over three weeks between runs into this race. This is the one we’ve waited for,” Jolly said.

See You In Heaven caused a minor upset when defeating Aitch Two Oh in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1050m) and has proven herself at six furlongs, but Jolly is confident Aitch Two Oh will handle the rise in trip.

“It doesn’t concern me too much, the way she relaxed the other day she was second in the run and relaxed off that other horse. She was a month between runs there so obviously going a fortnight into a 1200m works out well. I was a little bit worried (beforehand) but the way she won the other day I got the confidence she’d run 1200,” Jolly said.

Regardless of the result, Jolly will spell both fillies after Saturday and look ahead to the Spring.
