The Carnival has moved on, leaving Nichole Searle optimistic for Tosen Water’s chance at a long-overdue win back at Morphettville’s Parks track this Saturday.
Efforts to step up from recent placings define the six-year-old mare’s mission in the $65,000 Sportsbet Fast Form BM74 Handicap.
As a daughter of Tosen Stardom, she gained acceptance at Flemington; however, Searle with Gary her husband and Brianna Callanan their daughter, selected the Gawler-proximate race, suiting her prep at 1300 metres.
Tosen Water ran second last time to Dobbinair during the $105,000 State Sprint Series Final May 2, building on a Searle-described unlucky margin to Clarance by three-quarters-of-a-length April 18.
“She’s a super-consistent mare, she probably should have gone close two starts back had the horse inside her not rolled off the rail,” Searle said.
“So, she’s doing really well. Her work was really nice on Tuesday morning and she’s come through both those runs really well.
“It looks a nice race for her.”
From 34 starts, six victories; Teagan Voorham rode last twice, but Rochelle Milnes, prior season’s champion jockey, engages now, freeing Voorham for Sir Kingsford in the Listed Andrew Ramsden at Flemington.
Barrier eight awaits Milnes and Tosen Water among 14 rivals, with Searle unperturbed by impending Adelaide rain.
“We’re going to get a lot of rain over the weekend apparently here, which will benefit her because she likes a wet track too,” she said.
“Barrier eight is probably a nice gate for her and Rochelle’s on her. Rochelle knows her well, she’s won on her and been placed, so fingers crossed she can keep her consistent form up.”
At $7 in wagering, Tosen Water trails market leader Bouncing Beyond, scorer at Morphettville recently.
