The coveted Everest slot previously owned by The Star has been awarded to Mulberry Racing, a fresh face in the Australian racing landscape.
Mulberry Racing earned the spot following an open expression of interest, impressing Racing NSW with what they called “the most compelling offer”.
Established in 2023, Mulberry Racing operates from a property close to Sydney and adopts a data-first approach in racing. They campaign horses internationally, including in the U.S. and New Zealand, and boast ownership of stakes performer Jedibeel.
The group also made headlines at the Magic Millions with a bold $700,000 purchase of a Home Affairs filly.
Racing NSW COO Graeme Hinton welcomed the addition, highlighting Mulberry’s potential to reach new racing audiences.
“We are excited to welcome Mulberry Racing as our newest slot holder in The TAB Everest,” Hinton said.
“In particular, the opportunity to target a new demographic is what The TAB Everest is all about.”
Mulberry’s racing manager Lachlan Sheridan believes their formula can lead them to victory in the world’s richest turf race.
“At Mulberry Racing, data drives every decision we make,” Sheridan said.
“From day one, we’ve used this approach to build a strong stable across Australia and the United States – one that we believe has the quality and depth to win The Everest.”
This year’s Everest, offering $20 million in prizemoney, will be contested at Randwick on October 18.
