Revengeance’s Next Run: Bott To Decide Between The Rosebud And Trial

Adrian Bott, trainer of the talented colt Revengeance, is contemplating his next move for the Golden Gift winner. The decision between a start in The Rosebud or another barrier trial will be finalised after Tuesday’s trackwork.

The young galloper is on the nomination list for Saturday’s Listed feature at Rosehill Gardens, but his final acceptance will be contingent on his fitness assessment post-gallop.

“He’ll be nominated, but it’s whether he runs there or whether we lean towards a trial and go to the San Domenico Stakes as a kick off,” Bott shared. “We will probably make a call on Tuesday morning before acceptances. We’ll see the nominations, and get a gauge off his work there on Tuesday.”

Bott added, “He’s come back well. Either way, he’ll be better suited once he gets up to 1400 and a mile. He’s going to be that style of horse this ‘prep’, but he will try to head towards a Golden Rose.”

After finishing third in the Breeders’ Plate on debut last October, Revengeance captured the Golden Gift over 1100m at his second start and was considered a potential Golden Slipper contender. However, surgical intervention for bone chips in a knee subsequently ruled him out of the autumn campaign.

The colt has completed two barrier trials in preparation for his return. Should he not race at Rosehill, he is expected to trial again at Randwick this Friday before resuming in the San Domenico Stakes (1100m) on August 29.

Stablemate Eviction Notice, a runner-up in the Silver Slipper Stakes, is also a likely entrant for The Rosebud (1100m).

Having placed in two return runs during the winter, Eviction Notice could possess a fitness advantage heading into the three-year-old feature.

“Eviction Notice might be a lighter weight chance in the race. He would have the advantage of being fit as he’s had a couple of runs,” Bott concluded.
