Sheza Alibi’s nomination for the Doncaster Mile followed days after her Randwick Guineas win, with co-trainer Katherine Coleman detecting no issues thereafter that cast doubt on her fitness.
As a three-year-old filly, she is slated to be the hot favourite in Randwick’s $4 million Group 1 showdown at 1600m this Saturday.
A major piece of work awaits Sheza Alibi at Pakenham on Tuesday morning this week, yet Coleman affirmed all has been on track since the filly’s March 7 Randwick Guineas demolition.
“We’ve definitely been very happy with her since she came home from Sydney after winning up there,” Coleman, who trains in partnership with Peter Moody, said.
“She just hasn’t missed a beat and she seems like she’s really bounced through that.
“Her trial was super, she wasn’t asked for much of an effort and it didn’t take much out of her.
“She seems very bright and well within herself, so she will have a nice gallop on Tuesday morning in preparation for the Doncaster and then head up to Sydney later in the week, all being well.”
The Doncaster Mile entry from Moody and Coleman came post the 1600m Group 1 Randwick Guineas, with Sheza Alibi already home at Pakenham.
They’ve maintained normal operations with the Saxon Warrior filly, including a sharp 1000m jumpout triumph at Pakenham on March 24.
Jamie Melham handled the jumpout ride and will partner Sheza Alibi again at 49kg this weekend in pursuit of win number five.
The Randwick Guineas preceded her Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) victory, along with Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) and Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) last spring.
Poised as the narrowest Doncaster Mile favourite since Winx at $1.80 a decade ago, Sheza Alibi is $2 all-in as of Monday morning.
