Snowden confident Plaintiff can extend flawless run

Peter Snowden, the trainer, anticipated the return-to-racing win for unbeaten filly Plaintiff without issue, though her stylish conquest perhaps warranted a double-take.

Bred supremely as a three-year-old from Zoustar and Group One heroine Prompt Response, Plaintiff seeks to stretch her record to five-for-five in the Group 3 JHB Carr Stakes (1400m) next Saturday at Randwick.

Among the top results on Day 1 of The Championships packed with talent, she flew home from behind to win the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m), where Snowden confirmed her stakes-winning credentials.

“It wasn’t a surprise to us,” Snowden said.

Three town track successes from three goes last time in, and her connections have rated her highly from the outset.

At $1.90 she dominates wagering for the Saturday JHB Carr Stakes, with Snowden upbeat she will keep the wins coming before Queensland features beckon.

“I think she can go on with it,” Snowden said.

“She’s got a really good attitude, she’s got a good racing profile, she doesn’t pull, she relaxes really well and she’s got a turn of foot so she should get seven furlongs okay.

“We’ll get through Saturday and see what happens, but she’s got good ability and you can aim a bit higher with her and know she’ll be competitive.”

She raced forwardly last prep, but Snowden knows Plaintiff is equipped to land the JHB Carr Stakes from anywhere, carrying 57kg topweight in set weights and penalties terms.

“She’s sat outside the leader in her first preparation at Rosehill so she’s pretty adaptable,” Snowden said

“You never get too far ahead of yourself but she’s certainly full of good potential.”
