Geelong Cup Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2021

The Geelong Cup will be run and won on Wednesday and an open field of stayers, headlined by a couple of genuine Melbourne Cup contenders has accepted.

The likes of Media Puzzle, Americain and Dunaden have won the Geelong Cup en route to success on the first Tuesday of November, and betting suggests that Tralee Rose looms as the most likely to join that illustrious list in 2021.

You can find my complete 2021 Geelong Cup Tips below.

Geelong Cup – Winner – No. 8 Tralee Rose

The Geelong Cup looms as the perfect race for Tralee Rose.

Tralee Rose has been a strong and consistent performer throughout her career and has missed placing only a couple of times in fourteen starts.

She was particularly impressive through the summer and autumn of this year, winning both the Bagot Handicap and the Lord Reims Stakes and finished fourth in the Adelaide Cup most notably.

Having not missed placing in three starts back this time, she takes her place in the Geelong Cup field following a close second behind Grand Promenade in The Bart Cummings.

Geelong Cup – 2nd – No. 12 Bartholomeu Dias

Bartholomeu Dias has stripped fitter for a couple of starts back this time and he looks some real value in Geelong Cup betting at his current price ($21 at publish).

The Mount Nelson gelding has been a horse for the Maher & Eustace stables since arriving in Australia, and he has picked off some good races in each of his prep.

He returned in the winter for a hit and run victory at Flemington and while he needed his first start back this time when seventh in the Heatherlie, he only just missed in the Benalla Cup last time.

Fitter third-up and out to a mile and a half, I think he’ll be right in the finish once more.

Geelong Cup – 3rd – No. 1 Mirage Dancer

Mirage Dancer has a class edge over many of his rivals in the Geelong Cup field and can fight into the first three.

The Frankel entire arrived in Australia in the spring of 2019 and was set for the Melbourne Cup.

Since then, he has run in two Melbourne Cups, won the Group 1 Metropolitan in 2020 and found form around some of the best stayers in Australasia.

He takes his place in the Geelong Cup following a credible fifth placing in the Neds Herbert Power, and this does look a weaker race.

Geelong Cup – 4th – No. 2 Defibrillate

Defibrillate can return another competitive performance in the Geelong Cup 2021.

The Shocking gelding has returned to the races in typically competitive form, and finished fourth in each of the JRA Cup and the Neds Herbert Power most recently.

He should have ideal conditions on Wednesday and he certainly has the ability to compete with this lot.
