Golden Slipper Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2022

It’s the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, and the Golden Slipper headlines an enormous program at Rosehill Gardens this weekend.

Won by some of the best horses every to grace the Australian turf, the 2022 Golden Slipper field is rich with talent, and another juveniles will write their name in the history books on Saturday afternoon.

I’ve run the rule over each and every entrant, and you can find my complete 2022 Golden Slipper Tips below.

Suggested Bets

Golden Slipper – Winner – No. 10 Russian Conquest

She has drawn awkwardly in barrier 16, but I think that Russian Conquest will still take plenty of beating in the Golden Slipper 2022.

Russian Conquest stamped herself as a filly to follow when debuting for consecutive wins in the Max Lees Classic and an 1100m race at Randwick, before running Coolangatta to a head in the Magic Millions Classic.

She returned from a short spelk to finish fourth in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes a fortnight ago, I’m expecting big improvement for that effort, and Slipper specialist Tommy Berry retains the ride.

Golden Slipper – 2nd – No. 2 Sejardan

Sejardan takes winning form into the Golden Slipper, and he also wouldn’t look out of place in the winner’s stall.

The Sebring colt also won his first two career starts, beating home handy fields in the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate and the Golden Gift, and he suffered his first career defeat when filling the minors in the Inglis Millennium.

He bounced back with a pretty eye-catching effort in the Group 2 Todman Stakes, and he steps out this week in peak order, having won on the heavy going previously.

Golden Slipper – 3rd – No. 8 Coolangatta

She puts an unbeaten record on the line when she takes her place in the Golden Slipper field, but she is first-up since early January and I just wonder if Coolangatta will find a couple of these rivals a little sharp.

That being said, Coolangatta has already proven herself to be an extremely classy filly, and she won both the Gimcrack Stakes and the McLachlan Stakes with complete ease before taking out the Magic Millions Classic as well.

James McDonald keeps the ride and with even luck, she’s certainly up to winning the Golden Slipper.

Golden Slipper – 4th – No. 3 Best Of Bordeaux

He has already provided Queensland trainer Kacy Fogden with the biggest thrills of her training career to date, and Best Of Bordeaux can return another big performance in the Golden Slipper.

Best Of Bordeaux showed ability at the trials prior to debuting, and he has won both the Canonbury Stakes and the Silver Slipper in impressive fashion.

He has been kept up to the mark with a nice trial since his most-recent effort and he’ll make all of his own luck on the pace in the Golden Slipper.
