The Junction Handicap (2500m) – 12:22pm AEST

Tip: No. 1 Grinzinger Star

Grinzinger Star is chasing a hat-trick in the first at Morphettville on Saturday, and I’m happy to stick with him.

The son of Reliable Man has improved with each start back this time, and he was nothing short of dominant at his last two, albeit in weaker company.

He’s rock-hard fit and with even luck, he can fight out the finish again.

Adelaide Racing Carnival April 30th – May 21st Handicap (1050m) – 12:57pm AEST

Tip: No Bet

There’s almost no form to study ahead of the second on Irwin Stakes Day and at publish, many debutants are prominent in betting.

I’m happy to stay out of this one from a betting perspective.

Fleurieu Milk Company 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m) – 1:32pm AEST

Tip: No. 5 Strike Award

Strike Award can make a winning return to the races this week.

The Shamus Award gelding made two appearances during his debut prep, finishing second on both occasions on the Parks course here at Morphettville.

He returned a nice trial in the lead-up to this return, and this looks a lovely launchpad for him.

Keep The Legacy Promise This Anzac Day Handicap (1050m) – 2:12pm AEST

Tip: No. 3 Karacasu

Karacasu is another horse that can make a winning return on Irwin Stakes Day.

The Headwater gelding has been a strong and consistent performer for the Jolly yard since debuting, recording two wins and a further three second placings from six starts.

His fresh record is obviously good, and he too has had the benefit of a trial ahead of his return.

Grand Syndicates New Yearlings Available Now Handicap (1200m) – 2:52pm AEST

Tip: No. 2 Another Award

Another Award takes winning form into the fifth at Morphettville this week, and she looks well placed to make it two in a row.

The daughter of Shamus Award raced well around some excellent horses during her summer prep, and she was rewarded for her condition here last month with an easy win.

She has been performing well with her runs spaced and is four weeks into this race.

Race 6 – Group 3 RN Irwin Stakes (1100m) – 3:32pm AEST

Tip: No. 1 Trekking

Trekking is the one that I want to be with in this year’s Irwin Stakes.

The multiple Group 1 winner is probably past his best, but he’s still more than capable of striking in something of this quality, and he steps out third-up this week.

He’s drawn ideally under Glyn Schofield and with even luck, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.

Furphy Handicap (1600m) – 4:09pm AEST

Tip: No. 1 Harbouring

This looks to be one of the more open contests on Saturday’s program at Morphettville, and I think that a horse like Harbouring can have an impact at a price ($16 at publish).

The Harbour Watch gelding has raced consistently this time, and returned an eye-catching effort to strike under Campbell Rawiller at Oakbank last week.

I like that he is on the short back-up and we can have an each-way play at the price.

Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) – 4:47pm AEST

Tip: No. 1 Bacchanalia

This is the perfect race for Bacchanalia.

Bacchanalia has been an excellent horse for Godolphin since debuting, and he recorded three-consecutive wins to end his last prep, including the Listed Gosford Guineas.

He finished second behind Mazu in the Darby Munro when resuming this time, and that horse has since franked the form, while this bloke is also undefeated at this point of his preparation.

Murray And Barb Stewart’s 64th Anniversary Handicap (1600m) – 5:25pm AEST

Tip: No. 7 Eagles Crag

Eagles Crag can make a winning return in the last on Irwin Stakes Day.

Eagles Crag returned three sharp efforts last time in, finishing second behind Mr Brightside at Sandown when resuming before recording a bullish win at Benalla, most notably.

I like that his prep is being launched over a mile and with even luck, I think he will win.
