Queen Of The Turf Stakes Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2022

Some of the county’s best fillies and mares will chasing Group 1 glory in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Royal Randwick on Day 2 of The Championships.

A field of eighteen has been taken for the 2022 Queen Of The Turf, including four three-year-olds, and it is typically one of the best betting races on the program.

You can find my 2022 Queen Of The Turf Stakes Tips below.

Suggested Bets

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – Winner – No. 3 Icebath

This is Icebath’s moment. If she doesn’t win this race, she might never taste success at the highest level of racing.

Icebath has been the stable star for Brad Widdup for several seasons now, and she has gone agonizingly close to winning a Group 1 feature on many occasions.

She has continued to improve with each start this time, and charged home to finish less than a length third in the Doncaster Mile.

She’s rock-hard fit, will be steered by Kerrin McEvoy and I am going to give her this one last chance to strike.

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – 2nd – No. 1 Colette

Multiple Group 1 winner Colette has also been in excellent form without saluting this time, and she’ll get another chance in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

The daughter of Hallowed Crown announced herself to the Australian racing fraternity during the Autumn Carnival two years ago, winning the Australian Oaks, and she also claimed The Golden Eagle during her subsequent spring prep.

She added the Empire Rose to her trophy room in the recent spring, and she has finished second in the Apollo Stakes and the George Ryder most notably this time.

Colette has been set for this race, will be ridden by James McDonald, and will take beating.

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – 3rd – No. 14 Yonce

This is a big rise in class for her, but Yonce hasn’t tasted anything but success since debuting, and she’s worthy of a crack at a Group 1 in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

Her record currently stands at six wins from as many starts, and there is no doubt that she has continued to improve for each, and as the bar has been raised.

Further than the grade, a big query is how she’ll go on a heavy track, but she has won on soft previously. It’s very hard to argue with such consistent winning form, regardless of the grade, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the finish.

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – 4th – No. 5 Hungry Heart

If there is a mare in the 2022 Queen Of The Turf Stakes field that is over the odds, it’s Hungry Heart ($31 at publish).

The two-time Group 1 winner didn’t find her best during her spring prep in 2021, but I thought that there was a lot to like about her resuming effort for fourth in the Apollo Stakes, and the form out of that race has been franked several times.

She has form on a heavy track, has been kept up the mark with a trial, and has the ability to pull off the upset.
