Robert Sangster Stakes Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2022

It could very well be the strongest race contested in South Australia this year, and the Robert Sangster Stakes headlines a quality card at Morphettville on Saturday.

Multiple Group 1 winner September Run has opened a warm favourite in Robert Sangster Stakes betting, but she’ll need to be at her best to overcome the likes of Bella Nipotina, Away Game and Argentia.

Robert Sangster Stakes – Winner – No. 13 Argentia

Argentia is a classy horse, and she can make herself an extremely valuable breeding prospect by winning the Sangster.

The Frankel filly has made just five appearances at the races so far, but she has recorded two impressive victories, and she has finished second on two other occasions.

She has been freshened since finishing second in a photo finish to the Kewney Stakes, and the $9 about her at publish looks a touch of overs.

Robert Sangster Stakes – 2nd – No. 1 September Run

She’s arguably the class horse of the race (it’s a strong argument), and September Run is up to winning the Robert Sangster Stakes.

The Exceed And Excel mare was a very impressive winner on the Coolmore Stud Stakes in 2020, and while it did appear her best days were behind her, she stormed back into the Group 1 winner’s stall in the William Reid in March.

She has been freshened since that effort, and regular hoop Craig Williams keeps the ride.

Robert Sangster Stakes – 3rd – No. 5 Brooklyn Hustle

Brooklyn Hustle is almost always better than her price suggests, and the $11 about her in Robert Sangster Stakes betting looks terrific value.

The Starspangledbanner mare has picked off some nice races during her career, and while she is yet to salute in three starts back this time, she hasn’t been far away on any occasion.

She takes her place in this contest following a credible second placing behind In The Boat, and given that horse is the early favourite in The Goodwood betting, I think that reads really well for this contest.

Robert Sangster Stakes – 4th – No. 15 Gimmie Par

Gimmie Par is another who that looks over the odds at a big price in Robert Sangster Stakes betting ($61 at publish).

The Not A Single Doubt filly has missed placing only twice in seven career starts, and she was last seen filling the minors in the VOBIS Gold Dash.

I concede that this is a decent leap in class for her, but she gets into the race well under the conditions, and Peter Moody isn’t the sort of bloke to send his horses interstate if he doesn’t rate their chances.
