Race 1: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m) 12:15pm

Tip: No. 9 Dalaalaat

Dalaalaat found the line really nicely when resuming in the Midway Handicap two weeks ago to be beaten two lengths on the line.

The five year old gelding has been placed in nine of 16 career starts and seems to handle the heavy track well.

James McDonald steers from barrier 11.

Race 2: Group 3 Schweppervescence (1400m) 12:50pm

Tip: No. 3 Williamsburg

Williamsburg showed his class when scoring easily at Newcastle two back before stepping back in distance in the Pago Pago last start on the heavy track.

The son of Snitzel was not a fan of racing on the inside and Brenton Avdulla got the best out of the colt once her got to the outside.

He is better suited at this distance in my opinion and the addition of Kerrin McEvoy is a plus.

Race 3: Group 3 Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m) 1:25pm

Tip: No. 4 Mount Poppa

Mount Poppa has been a very consistent race horse throughout his racing career having placed 15 times in 20 starts.

His first up effort when beaten 2.8 lengths behind Verry Elleegant in the Group 1 Chipping Norton was excellent and he was beaten just half a length behind Stockman last start.

He is the class runner in this race and is one of the better bets of the day in my opinion.

Race 4: Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) 2:00pm

Tip: No. 3 Character

The James Cummings trained Character has a heap of upside and this looks a really nice race for him third up from a spell.

The race was not run to suit in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes last start but he battled away nicely to finished within 2.5 lengths of the winner Mr Mozart and will take plenty of benefit from that run.

The sharp step up in distance suits as does barrier three in the Tulloch Stakes.

Race 5: Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) 2:35pm

Tip: No. 3 Nimalee & No. 10 Promise Of Success

Nimalee has been a consistent performer at this grade of racing for quite some time and was narrowly beaten first up on the heavy track at Newcastle.

She drops down a kilo from that effort and has had a trial in between runs. $12 is great each way value in the Emancipation Stakes.

There’s a big race win in Promise Of Success soon after three really good efforts so far this prep including a fourth in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic when beaten just over two lengths.

I’d love to see Kerrin McEvoy be a little bit more aggressive on the mare early in the race and the rain forecast only increases her chances.

Race 6: Group 3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m) 3:15pm

Tip: No. 3 Aramayo & No. 5 Imaging

Aramayo was excellent during his last campaign and he finished the prep with a very narrow loss in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap at Royal Randwick over 1600m.

He made up plenty of ground late when resuming in the Newcastle Newmarket and was just found wanting late in the race.

Will improve and represents good each way value at the double figure odds in the Doncaster Prelude.

This is astute placement by Chris Waller and the team here with Imaging who has a very fresh record.

1500m is perfect for him and a recent trial win suggests he is ready to win first up.

Race 7: Group 1 Tancred Stakes (2400m) 3:55pm

Tip: No. 2 Spanish Mission

The Australian Cup was set up for Duais to swoop late so we are getting a nice price for Spanish Mission now in my opinion.

He did a good amount of work early in the Australian Cup which cost him late in the race but I love the way he worked right through the line.

The heavy track will not suit the other two that beat him home in that race and he gets out to a more suitable distance in the Tancred Stakes.

I think She’s Idea can run into the placings if you are looking for a juicy Same Race Multi.

Race 8: Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) 4:35pm

Tip: No. 2 Hinged

She won the Group 1 Surround Stakes at Randwick before finished within two lengths in the Coolmore Classic against the older mares last start.

That form is good enough to be winning a Vinery Stud Stakes and she has drawn perfectly in barrier four.

If Avdulla has her close enough at the 300m, she can storm over the top late.

Race 9: Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) 5:15pm

Tip: No. 1 Count De Rupee

He was no match for them first up in the Newmarket Handicap down the Flemington straight six but there is no doubting the ability of Count De Rupee.

The son of Real Impact has been placed in 13 of 16 career race starts and is four from seven at this distance.

Brock Ryan will need to be at his best from barrier 18 but the double figure odds are very juicy.

Race 10: Benchmark 88 Handicap (1400m) 5:55pm

Tip: Boxed Trifecta 4/5/7/8/17

Box them up in the last and cross the fingers.
