Towton Cup Day at Ascot Tips, Best Bets and Race Previews – 2021

Feature racing continues in the nation’s west on Saturday and the Listed G.A. Towtown Cup headlines a nine-race program.

As always, you can find my complete day preview and 2021 Towton Cup Day Tips below.

Preview brought to you by Neds. Learn more about Neds HERE.

Westspeed Platinum Handicap (1200m) – 2:48pm AEDT

Tip: No. 4 Queen Of Soul

Queen Of Soul will take winning form and improvement into the first on Towton Cup Day, and she looks well placed to score again.

The Simon Miller-trained mare returned some lovely efforts last time in, and kept all of her best work for late in Class 1 company at Belmont last month.

She is drawn well and can strike once more.

Better Your Bet Plate (1100m) – 3:28pm AEDT

Tip: No. 4 Rockin’ Rupert

He faces a rise in class, but Rockin’ Rupert couldn’t have been more impressive on debut, and he can keep alive his unbeaten career start.

The three-year-old son of Winning Rupert showed good ability at the trials prior to debuting, and he put the writing on the wall with a dominant effort at Belmont.

He’ll only improve for that experience and I am happy to stick with him.

Glenroy Chaff Handicap (1000m) – 4:08pm AEDT

Tip: No. 7 He’s On Fire

He’s On Fire is another second-up running that rates as a key winning chance at Ascot on Saturday.

The Magnus gelding won on debut here at Ascot and was immediately put away, and I thought that there was plenty to like about his first-up effort just over a week ago.

He has options from the rails draw and can fight out the finish.

Amelia Park Handicap (1500m) – 4:48pm AEDT

Tip: No. 5 God Has Chosen

God Has Chosen doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and looks to be a pretty clear top pick in Race 4 on Towton Cup Day.

The Playing God gelding hasn’t finished worse than second in four starts back this time, winning twice, and he was last seen comfortably defeating a similar field here at Ascot.

He’s rock-hard fit and with even luck, he will take a power of beating once more.

Crown Perth Handicap (1600m) – 5:28pm AEDT

Tip: No. 1 Dom To Shoot

Dom To Shoot was far better when dropping in class into something like this last time out, and he is primed to win this weekend.

The Shooting To Win gelding laid a fine account of himself on the east coast in Autumn, and while he did need a couple to tune up when resuming this time, he was only just denied a fortnight ago.

He gets some relief in the weights on Saturday, he’s drawn well and is primed to win.

Salinger Handicap (1400m) – 6:08pm AEDT

Tip: No. 1 Island Missile

I’m going to stick with Island Missile in the sixth at Ascot this weekend.

The Gangemi-trained galloper has been in fine form recently, winning two of his last four starts and finishing a half-length second at Belmont last time.

He’s rock-hard fit and while he will require some luck in running, I think that his class edge will take him a long way towards winning.

Morley Growers Market Handicap (1200m) – 6:41pm AEDT

Tip: No. 4 Brooklyn Pier

He hasn’t shown his best in two starts back this time, but Brooklyn Pier has stripped fitter, and I actually think that this looks to be a very winnable race for him.

The Magnus gelding found form around some good horses last time, and he is a galloper who tends with improve further into his prepation.

Listed G.A. Towton Cup (2200m) – 7:25pm AEDT

Tip: No. 1 Trap For Fools

It doesn’t boast the grandeur of the feature races that we’ve enjoyed in Perth these last few weeks, but a classy field has accepted for the Towton Cup, and a winner is a winner!

This is a genuine drop in grade for Trap For Fools, and we can have an each-way play at around the $11 mark.

Trap For Fools is a Group 1 winner, and he resumed this time for a credible third placing in the Listed Farnley Stakes, was freshened, and stepped out in the Kingston Town Classic last weekend, albeit a failed tilt.

Belhus Racing Stables Handicap (1800m) – 8:00pm AEDT

Tip: No. 1 Holy Enchantment

Holy Enchantment can win the last on Towton Cup Day.

Holy Enchantment finished second, albeit well beaten over 1400m when resuming here last month, and only just missed in a similar contest last time.

Fitter third-up and getting further out in trip, I’m eager to have a pretty decent crack this week.
