Anamoe odds-on favourite in quality Golden Rose

The final field and barriers have been confirmed for Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Rose with race favourite Anamoe drawing barrier 8.

Sydney’s Group 1 three-year-old feature event for the spring has attracted a field of 13 headlined by the James Cummings-trained Anamoe.

The Street Boss colt has drawn barrier 8 as he looks to become the fourth Godolphin colt to claim the Run To The Rose – Golden Rose double, following in the footsteps of Exosphere (2015), Astern (2016) and Bivouac (2019).

Given four of the past seven Run To The Rose winners have gone on to claim the double, it comes as no surprise to see Anamoe installed as the $1.90 favourite with tab.com.au.

After winning the 2020 Golden Rose quinella with Ole Kirk and North Pacific, Team Hawkes will look to defend their title with Run To The Rose placegetter Remarque.

The Snitzel colt will jump from barrier 5 and is an equal second favourite with Blue Diamond Stakes winner Artorius.

Anthony and Sam Freedman’s Flying Artie colt ventures north after a narrow defeat in the Exford Plate at Flemington behind Mr Mozart.

Just two of the 13 runners contesting the 2021 Golden Rose Stakes are fillies, Jamaea ($15) and Startantes ($18).

Jamaea will jump from barrier 7 while Queensland Raider Startantes has barrier 10.

The lone filly to win the Golden Rose stakes in its near 20 year history was Forensics in 2008.
