Anamoe, Paulele set for Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill

Godolphin guns spearhead Rosehill nominees as the charge toward the Autumn carnival continues with the running of Saturday’s Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m).

In what promises to be an exciting spectacle and prelude to Autumn racing, Group 1 talent once again fills the nominations at Saturday’s Rosehill meeting.

The Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) will headline Rosehill’s 10-race card – with a further two Group 2 contests (Silver Slipper & Millie Fox Stakes) and the Listed Parramatta Cup to play as commendable curtain raisers.

Having been beaten when returning in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes, Godolphin ace Anamoe has once again gone up a short favourite to take out Saturday’s 1400m feature.

Stablemate Paulele has been nominated to join last year’s Cox Plate runner-up and will be looking to build on his winning ways after taking out the Group 3 Eskimo Prince when resuming a fortnight ago.

Trainer James Cummings has also nominated Alegron to return; last seen when finishing second behind Hitotsu in the Victoria Derby (2500m).

In what is shaping to be a similar field to that of the Eskimo Prince; nine of the defeated runners have been nominated to atone their defeats, including placegetters Ranch Hand and Converge, and other big names Hilal and Captivant.

As for the two-year-old Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) and what is a traditional pathway to the world’s richest juvenile race; the Golden Slipper (1200m), the ‘Blue Army’ again possess a stranglehold over the field with four nominees: Ojai, Renosu, Spacewalk and Rakomelo.

Also with a strong contingent of runners is training duo Peter and Paul Snowden. The father and son partnership have put forward debut winner Cytrhera, Ebhaar and Miss Hellfire – who will be hoping to make amends for her disappointing display in last month’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m).

The Richard and Michael Freedman-trained Queen Of The Ball heads early markets, on the back of her demolition job in the Group 3 Widden Stakes.

With only seven runners currently nominated (Deadline extended to Tuesday) for the Fillies and Mares Millie Fox Stakes (1300m), last start winner Expat leads the early betting, with Belucci Babe and resuming mare Rocha Clock close second elects.

On the other end of the spectrum, 24 runners have been nominated for the Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m).

In what is sure be an ultra-competitive contest, Lackeen and Toomuchtobear share $6 favouritism, with Entente, Luncies and No Compromise sharing the second line of betting at $8 with tab.com.au

Having collected two Group 3 victories (Newcastle Cup and Hotham Cup) and concluding last campaign with an admirable midfield finish in the Melbourne Cup, five-year-old gelding Great House has been nominated to return and is one of Chris Waller’s eight nominees.

The Rosehill surface is currently rated a Soft 7 and the rail position is true.
