BRC considering Doomben 10,000 move

Brisbane Racing Club officials will make a call on Wednesday morning as to where the Doomben 10,000 meeting will be run.

With heavy rain forecast in Brisbane later this week, the BRC is considering moving the Group 1 meeting from Doomben to Eagle Farm.

Already acceptances for the meeting have been pushed back from 9am to 11am on Wednesday to give connections time to work out options for their horses should there be a transfer.

If run at Doomben on Saturday, the likelihood is the meeting will be run on heavy ground while across the road at Eagle Farm there is the possibility the track could be a Good 4.

Track conditions and where the meeting is held will determine what runners Godolphin and James Cummings have in the Group 1 contest.

If the meeting remains at Doomben on a wet track, then Paulele may switch to Adelaide to run in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday week.

At his last start in Group 1 company, Paulele finished third to Nature Strip and Eduardo in the TJ Smith on a heavy track at Randwick last month.

“He’s well placed in the Doomben 10,000 to have a good solid crack at a Group 1 title,” Cummings said.

“But if it was too wet up there, I’ve got him in the nominations for The Goodwood, so I would have to give that some consideration.”

Andermatt is three-from-three since being gelding and has an affinity with wet tracks, winning twice this campaign on heavy tracks at Canterbury and Randwick.

“He most likely runs in a benchmark at Scone but given that he’s so adept on the heavy we’ve got to keep our options open,” Cummings said.

“There is nothing wrong with his form, he’s three out of three as a gelding and has a Group 1 pedigree.”

Godolphin’s other entrant in race is Kementari who was a last start winner of the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick, lowering the colours of recent Victory Stakes winner Count De Rupee.

“Kementari is flying, and he’d run very well in the race,” Cummings said.
