Hawkesbury Guineas the next news story for Media World

Media World returns to the scene of his breakthrough Clarendon Stakes win aiming for more success in the Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) this Saturday.

The Yulong colt proved competitive during the spring, finishing behind strong opposition and placing in the Listed Dulcify Quality (1600m). Trainer Peter Snowden opted to bypass major carnival races, giving Media World a gentler lead-up via a successful return at Warwick Farm.

“I didn’t think he was up to the really good races so I purposely backed off him and brought him in a bit later,” Snowden said.

“So far, he has ticked that first box off at Warwick Farm the other day and had a really good win.

“Hopefully he can go to Hawkesbury and do a similar thing.”

Tyler Schiller rides Media World from gate 11, while Chad Schofield partners Fearless from the outside draw in a 17-horse field.

Fearless, placed in the Champagne Stakes (1600m) last season, comes into the Guineas off a tough run in the South Pacific Classic (1400m) at Randwick.

“Fearless is going really well and he will be very well suited there,” Snowden said.

“He is third-up and he had a hard run the other day, which topped him off nicely.

“I’ve always liked him and a wet track will only help his chances.”

If all goes to plan, both Media World and Fearless may head north for the winter carnival.

“The normal progression if they’re going well enough, and they’ve got to be going well, is the Fred Best Classic, and then maybe onto the Stradbroke (Handicap) if they’re to venture that far,” Snowden said.

“We will just take one step at a time and get through Hawkesbury first.”
