Trainer Neville Parnham is set to unleash talented three-year-old September Born following a sharp trial performance that confirmed the colt is ready to return to racing after a break.
September Born, guided by Brad Parnham, powered home late to win a 950m heat with authority, marking his second trial back and giving connections renewed optimism after a setback during the spring.
Last seen finishing eighth in the WA Guineas (1600m), September Born returned lame, cutting short what had been a promising campaign after strong runs in the Belgravia Stakes and Fairetha Stakes.
“Unfortunately, he pulled up with pretty severe bruising and had an abscess forming,” Parnham told Tabradio.
“He went into the race pretty much the favourite, I think, and we walked away with our heads down and disappointed.”
Now fully recovered, the Playing God colt is set to resume in a three-year-old set weights and penalties 1200m event at Belmont on May 31, before progressing to the Raconteur Stakes and Belmont Guineas (1600m) in June.
“He’s had a nice break now and has come back in pretty good order,” Parnham added. “All going well, I think setting him aside and heading towards the summer carnival would be well thought out as the plan.”
September Born will be aiming to replicate the achievements of his sister Kay Cee, who won the same pair of Belmont features in 2020.
