Autumn Glow on audition for The Everest 2025

Autumn Glow will put her unbeaten record on the line in Saturday’s Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1100m), a race that could decide whether her spring path leads to The Everest or longer-distance features like the Epsom.

One of the headline acts on the Winx Stakes card, the four-year-old resumes after four career wins, three of them at stakes level, including the Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) in March.

Trainer Chris Waller said the stable is still weighing up her ideal trip. “We’re not sure whether she is a sprinter or a miler,” Waller said. “The Epsom looks perfect for her but we are going to give her a chance to sprint. Who is to say she is not an Everest contender?”

Autumn Glow had been dually accepted for Saturday’s program but Waller opted for the Toy Show Quality over the Show County, with James McDonald booked to ride her at 55.5kg.

She has never raced on a heavy track but Waller is confident her foundation will allow her to cope. “Because we’re well prepared, I’m prepared to try, but I would like to see no rain on the day,” he said. “She was in no rush to begin and we’ve looked after her thus far, but as long as it’s safe on the day she will be running.”

Waller, however, was measured about her hype. “I want to tick the Group One box first so I’m not getting too excited until then,” he said.

The Toy Show has drawn a strong field of 11 including Group 1 winner Manaal, Robert Sangster Stakes runner-up Ameena and progressive mare Shohisha.
