Chidiac, fresh from her Country Championships Final conquest, has elevated to stakes ranks with a tenacious slim margin success in the Group Three Hawkesbury Crown.

In the process, she supplied up-and-coming hoop Braith Nock with his 300th career triumph plus an opening double after his Midway Handicap (1500m) score on Bella Khadijah at the standalone fixture.

The mare races for industry heavyweight Gerry Harvey and now sports a potent stat line of seven wins in 12 goes, her latest arguably the key one for boosting her auction appeal.

“This was stepping over the line for me (Group race) as I like to keep them graded,” winning trainer Brett Cavanough said.

“But with mares, you have to step them out of their zone for black type, and now she has got the job done she is very valuable.

“She was worth $25,000 when I got her, but Gerry will probably discount her for $1 million now.”

Partnered with daughter Georgie in training, Cavanough was thrilled likewise to hand Nock his big career mark.

Defending Sydney apprentice premiership holder, Nock commands the leaderboard once more via 25 town wins and sealed his 300th riding for the Scone conditioner.

“I had that in mind all the time, I wanted to give him his 300th winner,” Cavanough said.

“It’s a great result for Braith, the stable, our staff. Everyone involved.”

Chidiac’s immediate future is undecided by Cavanough, who floated the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at his Scone base in a couple of weeks.

“But it is job done for the time being. We will see how she pulls up and go from there,” he said.

“The Dark Jewel is 1400 metres, and she gets that, so a bit to think about.”

A tight photo finish saw $4.80 Chidiac pip Surfin’ Bird ($5) on the line, the leader Arriving Home ($20) third.
