Dual G1 winner snapped up for $15m The Everest

By RS NewsWire on 16/09/2022 at 3:44 pm
Filled in: News - The Everest

Dual Group 1 winner Snapdancer has become the sixth horse confirmed for a start in the $15 million The Everest after being locked in by slot holders Inglis.

The last-start Memsie Stakes winner will be the first Everest runner for leading trainers Ciaron Maher & David Eustace and Maher is thrilled to secure the mare a spot in what has become one of the most anticipated races of the spring.

“We’re very grateful to the Inglis team for selecting Snapdancer to be their Everest runner,” Maher said.

“For years we’ve sat back and watched the phenomenon that is The Everest, so for Snapdancer to be our first runner is a really great achievement for the team.”

Snapdancer has won seven of her 20 starts and is a proven stakes performer at Randwick.

The form out of her Memsie Stakes win has already stacked up with runner-up I’m Thunderstruck subsequently capturing the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes.

Eustace believes the six-year-old is at the peak of her powers and will be a worthy Everest contender.

“She’s in career-best form and to line up in a race like that with a great group of owners who have become mates, she will be ready to absolutely rip in the middle of October,” Eustace said.

As an Inglis sales graduate, Snapdancer was seen as a perfect fit for by her slot holders.

She is a $15 chance with TAB fixed odds for the October 15 sprint and joins defending champion Nature Strip, last year’s placegetters Masked Crusader and Eduardo , along with Lost And Running and Mazu as confirmed Everest runners.

Classique Legend is likely to be chosen for the slot held by his owner Bon Ho provided he performs well in The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on Saturday, his first start back from a suspensory injury.
