Extent of Kerrin McEvoy injuries outlined

Kerrin Mcevoy will be out of the saddle for up to two months due to injuries sustained in a fall at Rosehill on Saturday.

The champion rider fell from Tintookie in the final event on the card and underwent medical attention on the track before being transported to hospital where he undertook scans and tests.

Racing NSW on Monday released an update detailing the extent of McEvoy’s injuries, which do not require surgery, and expected time on the sidelines.

“Kerrin has a minimally displaced spinal fracture which is stable and will be treated in a brace,” Racing NSW said in an updated released on social media on Monday afternoon.

“Kerrin will not be riding for approximately six to eight weeks.”

The fall completed an eventful day for McEvoy, who won the Group 1 The Galaxy aboard Zapateo 40 minutes before the fall.

Earlier, McEvoy was narrowly denied a second win in the Golden Slipper when narrowly beaten aboard the Matt Laurie-trained Pierata.
