Will Hayes reckons multiple aspects have synced up to position consistent filly Rohesia for a return to peak performance.
The progeny of Hanseatic has secured her previous two 1400m races, including the latest stakes event, resulting in the decision to house her in Adelaide ahead of Saturday’s Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m).
From sprint beginnings, Rohesia handled a tough Class 3 at Ballarat and duly saluted at $3 odds in the Listed Nitschke Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville Parks back on April 18th.
Hayes explained that blinkers plus Rohesia’s smooth adjustment to them have fuelled her surge in the last couple of runs.
“We’re going to look at the mile in the Adelaide Guineas,” Hayes said.
“She was so strong through the line the other day, we thought we’d give her the chance to add another stakes victory.
“I think that the defining moment is when we got the blinkers on, she’s very genuine, but they really have improved her.
“So it’s really good that she’s tractable, and she’s relaxed in them and she keeps finding the line, so we’ll definitely get a good guide on her out to the mile.”
Residing in Adelaide for the prior two weeks, Hayes views Rohesia’s temperament as central to her blossoming.
“She’s stayed here with Stuart and Lizzy Gowers and she loves it,” Hayes said.
“She’s very straightforward, Ash Alford who’s travelling our horses has done a great job and says she hasn’t missed a beat since her last win.”
Rohesia is one of 16 declared runners for the Adelaide Guineas, starting from barrier three under jockey Daniel Stackhouse, offered at $6 behind $2.15 favourite Gold Coast Belle.
