Five finalists announced for Victorian Racehorse of the Year

Racing Victoria has announced the five finalists for the 2021-22 Victorian Racehorse of the Year.

Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant, Caulfield Cup winner Incentivise, Victoria Derby winner Hitotsu, champion sprinter Nature Strip and All-Star Mile winner Zaaki are the finalists in the award which will be announced on Saturday night.

The annual awards night in Melbourne will also see the Scobie Breasley Medal for riding excellence, the Fred Hoysted Medal for training excellence and the Tommy Corrigan Medal for the best jumps jockey handed out.

And as an added bonus the Australian Horse of the Year awards will also be announced across the different categories including champion Two-Year-Old, Three-Year-Old Filly, Three-Year-Old Colt or Gelding, Sprinter, Middle Distance, Stayer, Jumper, and in addition the title of the nation’s premier racehorse.

Just last week the finalists in those categories, with the exception of the Horse of the Year, were announced.
