Godolphin’s colts with back-to-back Group 1 conquests have raced their final race and will commence stallion duties with Darley this year.
On Monday it emerged that Tentyris and Observer are retired, set to divide time at Darley Australia’s twin bases.
Street Boss-sired Tentyris won the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) in spring, then struck first-up in the Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) recently, bound for Kelvinside NSW at $88,000 (GST included).
Ghaiyyath colt Observer, taker of the Victoria Derby (2500m) and Australian Guineas (1600m), heads to Seymour Victoria for $33,000 services.
“Tentyris and Observer are two of the best from our amazing three-year-old crop,” Godolphin Australia managing director Andy Makiv said.
“This season is a credit to everyone involved, from those on the farms to our people in the office, right through to the trainers and their staff.
“To be so competitive on the racetrack this season and win races like the Coolmore, Lightning, Guineas and Derby is something everyone at Godolphin should be very proud of.”
Last in the T J Smith Stakes (1200m) marked Tentyris’s exit. He boasted Group 1 runner-up in the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) and the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at age two beyond his majors.
The colt from the Anthony and Sam Freedman stable retires on five wins in 10, two placings aiding $2.65m earnings.
Observer claimed five from 11 for $2.7m, with Group 1 places in Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and Rosehill Guineas (2000m), and Group 2s via Moonee Valley Vase (2040m), Autumn Stakes (1400m).
Ending with Ciaron Maher, he was fifth to Godolphin blue-wearing Green Spaces in the Group 1 ATC Australian Derby (2400m).
