The board of Racing NSW has unanimously endorsed Graeme Hinton as the next chief executive, succeeding Peter V’landys in the top role.

Hinton has been serving as the Acting CEO since July and will officially take over the position on December 1st. His extensive experience includes more than ten years with Racing NSW, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer.

A key player alongside V’landys during a period of substantial development, Hinton was heavily involved in establishing The Everest, extending the NSW Spring Carnival, and advancing Racing NSW’s equine welfare initiatives.

Dr. Saranne Cooke, Racing NSW Chair, reported that industry support for Hinton was “resounding” after the board consulted with key figures in the racing community.

V’landys also offered his full support for his replacement.

“Racing is extremely lucky to have Graeme. He is one of the rare individuals who have deep knowledge of every aspect of the racing industry.”

Hinton expressed his honour at being given the opportunity to lead the industry.

“It is a privilege to lead such an incredible industry that I have grown up around and have spent my working life in. Racing is part of the economic and social fabric of our entire state. It provides employment to tens of thousands of people and entertainment to many, many more.”

He further commented, “I look forward to working closely with the Racing NSW Board, our clubs, participants and industry partners to build on these strong foundations to ensure NSW remains at the forefront of racing in Australia and internationally.”
