Mollynickers returns to more suitable company this weekend, taking her place in the mares-only Brian Beattie Handicap (1420m) at Flemington where she looks to capitalise on solid recent form.
Trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, together with apprentice Luke Cartwright, are chasing more success following recent wins at Sandown and a standout treble on May 24.
“Her last couple of runs have been super,” Coleman said. “She’s going to the race in good order. It’s a good race on form, but she was up against the boys last start and ran well.”
Mollynickers brings solid credentials into the race, with Group placings in the The Vanity and Kewney Stakes and a fourth in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes.
She won at Geelong in January and has placed at Caulfield and Sandown in her two runs this prep.
“She was honest and brave, so you can’t be too disheartened by that,” Coleman added. “But she’s at that mark in her races now where she needs everything to fall her way.”
With 55kg thanks to Cartwright’s claim, she shapes as a strong contender back in mares’ grade.
