Nick Ryan sets sights on VOBIS Gold Dash

In form trainer Nick Ryan believes there is the potential for a good win from three-year-old Mynumerouno but for the time being he is content to chase prize money on the home front.

Mynumerouno heads to Caulfield on Saturday chasing first prize of $71,500 in the Wilde Racing Handicap (1100m) while also looking to extend his career record to six wins from seven starts.

Ryan had contemplated taking Mynumerouno to Sydney for the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday chasing some of the $1 million prize money on offer, but figures there will be plenty of time for richer prizes down the track.

Already in Ryan’s sights is the $200,000 VOBIS Gold Dash (1100m) at Caulfield on April 23.

“We thought about running in the Arrowfield in Sydney on Saturday,” Ryan said.

“We think he’s going to be a good horse for a long time yet and the prize money on offer down here is so good, especially him being VOBIS Gold qualified.

“We’ll try and keep his good record intact for the moment. We think he can measure up to better races and we might be able to get him into a good race with a lightweight.

“So, we’ll run Saturday, go to the Gold Dash and then we’ll put him away for the spring.”

The only defeat Mynumerouno has suffered came at his second start following a debut win at Swan Hill when finishing third at Sandown last July while he has since racked up wins at Sandown, The Valley (twice) and Echuca.

Following his last start win in the VOBIS Gold Eldorado (1200m) at Echuca on March 13, Mynumerouno was given a freshen up to prepare for Saturday’s contest.

One thing Ryan knows is Mynumerouno is a winner.

“He had a week freshen after winning at Echuca which was a gutsy effort,” Ryan said.

“He galloped well on Tuesday and was bouncing after it. He’s freshened up well.”
