A recent stable acquisition for Robert and Luke Price, Our Bellagio Miss is at double-figure odds for her stakes assignment at Hawkesbury but if trainer confidence is anything to go by, she could represent value.

The five-year-old joined the Price team during the summer but co-trainer Luke Price admitted it took time to get to know her quirks.

“She can tie up and gets tight in the muscles,” Price said.

“It took me a fair while to work her out, but I’ve got her sussed now.

“We gave her five weeks off and she has just come up so well. She loves the rain, she’s got a lovely barrier and she has been set for the race.

“Her preparation has just been spot-on, so I’m really confident she will run well.”

The mare, who will tackle Saturday’s Hawkesbury XXXX Gold Rush (1100m), is a superior wet track performer and her six career-wins have all been on rain-affected ground.

Price credited her former trainer Greg Hickman with achieving terrific results with her in a metropolitan environment and believes she is up to winning a stakes race in the right conditions.

“She would really deserve it,” Price said.

“She has been a fantastic mare her whole career. She wouldn’t have been easy to train, especially in the city, and she had a fantastic record when we got her, all on wet tracks.”

Our Bellagio Miss was a $16 chance in early TAB fixed odds markets with the speedy Malkovich heading betting at $2.50.
