Passive Aggressive has maintained her unbeaten record in landing her first stakes race victory.

The Grahame Begg-trained filly scored in the Listed A R Creswick Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday to follow victories at Werribee, Pakenham and Flemington.

The Creswick Stakes has been a launching pad to Group 1 success in previous years with Nature Strip (2018) and Gytrash (2019) going on to greater heights.

Ridden by Jordan Childs, Passive Aggressive ($3) raced to a one-length victory from the $2.90 favourite Star Patrol with South Australian visitor Karacasu ($6) the same margin off third.

Begg said Passive Aggressive would now have a break having ticked all the boxes through her campaign.

However, Begg conceded the winter months was not the ideal time to be giving the filly a full-blown spell in the paddock.

“It’s time to have a little bit of a back off, but it’s a bad time of the year to do it,” Begg said.

“We’ll just wrap her in cotton wool and work out a plan with her.

“We know she loves a bit of give in the ground and we’re very conscious of that and that’s why we’re wanting to avoid the autumn in Victoria because the tracks do get hard, so she may be aimed at something in Sydney.”

Begg said Passive Aggressive had been a filly that had shown ability on the track and was hopeful that would translate to the racetrack.

But Passive Aggressive had also had some niggling problems through her career.

“You never know until you actually try them out, but every time she’s come to the races she’s kept improving,” Begg said.

“She looked absolutely magnificent walking around today pre-race, she displayed it on the track itself.

“She’s a filly that’s got a lot of ability and to go and win a stakes race at her fourth run, she’s come a long way in a very short space of time.

“She’s got a lot of upside.”
