The Freedman stable, led by Anthony and Sam, will mount a two-horse challenge on a major Adelaide sprint for the debut time.
Both Ameena and Point Barrow line up for the trainers in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville come Saturday.
From its Group 1 inception in 2005, the Freedman name has shone, courtesy of Lee Freedmans trio of wins with Alinghi initially, Ellicorsam next, Universal Queen after, and Anthonys Shoals in 2018.
Sam Freedman is eager to contribute to the family tally, holding faith in the credentials of his pair of speedsters.
Point Barrow tops early books at $4.60, Ameena at longer odds of $34.
Freedman praised Point Barrows impeccable preparation, likening her to Shoals who stormed home for Sangster glory.
“This has been a target race for the whole prep,” Freedman said.
“She’s coming in with the strongest form and due to circumstances in the Oakleigh Plate, we didn’t see her at her best, but she put up a great run last start.
“Maybe it wasn’t a great field, maybe she got the right run throughout, but they’ve still got to go out and do it.
“Shoals won this race a few years ago and had a better CV than Point Barrow but had a similar sort of racing style where she got back and swooped down the middle.
“I think for a three-year-old filly, I wouldn’t go swapping her with any that are in there.”
Freedman bypassed a Sandown jump-out for Point Barrow last week, judging her set without it.
She shone in a gallop at Mornington the preceding Saturday on firm ground, delighting her co-handler.
Resuming into Group 1 ranks post-spring, Ameena boasts four jump-outs as preparation.
The Freedmans repeat last years blueprint, which delivered Ameena second place in the Sangster en route to fourth in The Goodwood.
“She’s going in fresh,” Freedman said.
“She ran brilliantly in the race last year fresh. She should have nearly won, so we’ll follow the same path.
“There is the Goodwood a fortnight later for both them if you have a hard luck story or they pull up well, so there is the option to do that, but I don’t think they will be pushing on to Queensland as this is very much a target race for them.”
