After a brief setback, Politely Dun will resume at Flemington this Saturday with an eye on a Group 1 target in Queensland later this month.
The Danny O’Brien-trained gelding was previously targeting the South Australian Derby, but an off blood test halted his travel plans. Instead, he’ll now attempt to book a ticket to the Queensland Derby by impressing in the Sir Henry Bolte Handicap (2000m).
“I saved him from the St Leger with the Derby in Adelaide in mind, but we weren’t completely happy with his blood before he got on the float to go to Adelaide,” O’Brien said.
“Clinically he’s been fine, and his blood picture came back quickly to normal parameters.”
Politely Dun has not been seen since his runner-up effort at Caulfield behind Statuario on April 5. The latter has since proven that form by placing second in the South Australian Derby. A strong showing on Saturday will secure Politely Dun’s path to the Queensland classic.
Fans and punters can follow Politely Dun’s progress and place their bets through top Australian betting platforms offering great odds on Derby hopefuls.
