The rapid recovery rate of She’s Extreme has given Anthony Cummings the confidence to plan a seven-day back-up into the Golden Slipper if she can win Saturday’s Magic Night Stakes.

The filly is an early favourite for the Group 3 sprint after following a luckless debut fourth on the Kensington track with an eye-catching second to Fireburn on a heavy surface in the Sweet Embrace Stakes.

She will need to win at Rosehill to vault into the Golden Slipper field and if she does, Cummings will have no qualms running her again in seven days given how well she has come through her Sweet Embrace Stakes effort.

“It has surprised me how well she has done since then. It makes Saturday’s run possible and more to the point, it makes the back-up possible,” Cummings said.

“She’s got good talent, she is coping with everything really well and her recovery from each of the runs has been excellent, and faster than what I would have thought.”

The biggest hurdle for She’s Extreme on Saturday could be a wide draw, the filly coming up with barrier 11 of 13.

She settled worse than midfield from a wide gate last start but Cummings says she is versatile and he will mull over race tactics.

“We are going to have a look at the race and work out what the race speed might be, because she is capable of being on speed,” he said.

“But it needs to be a good idea.”

Stablemate Kote is also expected to take his place in the Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) after being scratched from Canterbury on Thursday.

The colt finished seventh and just over 2-1/2 lengths behind winner Nipotino on debut at Canterbury last month, but the run was better than it appeared as he was three-wide throughout and still found the line resolutely.

“He did it tough but kept coming. There is a lot to like about that and he has been good since,” Cummings said.

There has been some specking for Kote at long odds with the youngster firming from $61 into $41, although blueblood Magic remains a solid Pago Pago favourite at $2.30.
