Eviction Notice will get his chance to atone for an underwhelming spring debut when he lines up in Saturday’s Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill.
The Tulloch Lodge colt impressed in early trials but was unable to sustain his effort in the Breeders’ Plate (1000m) after being forced to work early in the race.
Trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott opted to spell the youngster following that run, and Bott says he has returned in great order.
“Physically, he looks fantastic, and I can’t fault him,” Bott said.
“He started a fancied horse in the Breeders’ Plate and things just didn’t go to plan for him, but he seems in good order.”
Eviction Notice will renew rivalry with Breeders’ Plate winner Incognito on Saturday, with the Golden Slipper looming later in the autumn.
“There are going to be some quality horses in that race so it will give us a good line on where he’s at,” Bott said.
“He has come back really well. He’s just got to step up and improve on what he did first campaign.”
The stable will also be represented by Miss Chanel in the Widden Stakes (1100m), following her promising debut effort on a rain-affected track.
“She will improve nicely off the back of that and having had that experience,” Bott said.
“She will be better on top of the ground too.”
Bott added that runners from the Magic Millions meeting are being spaced, with Plagiarism set to target the Inglis Millennium (1100m).
Punters following the Canonbury Stakes can review the latest online bookmakers ahead of the Rosehill feature.
