Bjorn Baker’s stable is on a roll after a winning double at Rosehill, and this momentum could continue at Randwick. Star filly Within The Law will attempt to strengthen her credentials for the Golden Slipper when she competes this Saturday.

Having already secured a win in the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) in December, the two-year-old has nearly reached $1 million in prize money. Her recent runner-up performance in the Inglis Millennium (1100m) at Randwick further showcased her ability.

She made a strong late charge but was narrowly edged out by Rivellino, with both set to face off again in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m).

“She is going really well and has improved since last time,” Baker said.

“This will be a step up a test to see where we are at among the other fillies we have to be confident in her with the way she has been going.”

Despite drawing barrier 12, Baker remains unconcerned, stating that the filly’s strong finishing ability will be her key asset.

“We’re not too concerned about the gate as she will be coming home hard anyway.”

On ratings, Within The Law reached a peak of 101 in December but still has a bit to prove against Rivellino.

Bellazaine and Snitzel Miss share favouritism at $4, while Within The Law is priced at $6.

Meanwhile, Arapaho steps up against elite competition in the Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes (1600m), where he will face top-tier rivals. The staying specialist is an $81 longshot.

“This is too short for him, and he’s taking on those horses who are much more suited to it,” Baker said.

“But he is coming along well with the Tancred Stakes his main aim.”

Arapaho won the Group 1 Tancred Stakes (2400m) last year and finished seventh in this race, formerly known as the Chipping Norton Stakes.

He is currently $11 for the Tancred Stakes on March 29, with Dubai Honour favored at $3.50.
